Investigation on the UN / 1: Anti-Semitism at the UN Headquarters in Bologna

The problem of anti-Semitism in the UN is almost as old as the organization: there are so many episodes in which the UN has shown throughout his inability to defend or even a clear desire to attack against the Jewish people.
Already in 1948 the UN does not seek to defend its resolution on Israel and Jerusalem, then to come to recognize de facto the right to terrorism.
When, in 1967, the Egyptian dictator Gamal Abdel Nasser, who did not hide, "the goal of destroying Israel asked the UN to withdraw UN peacekeepers in the area, immediately got what he wanted, despite having already deployed 80 000 men and 550 tanks to the border with Israel.
In 1975, the racist and murderess dictator of Uganda, Idi Amin Dada, to the applause of the ambassadors present, demanded the expulsion of Israel from the UN and the "extermination" of the Jewish state. That day the General Assembly approved the resolution passed into history as "Zionism is racism."
A statement following the UN conference in Caracas, issued by the Department of Public Information United Nations December 14, 2005, headline: "A two-state solution of the Israeli-Palestinian conflict is no longer viable."
To complete the picture, the recent statements by Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad, who in October 2005 called for the destruction of Israel and its deletion from the map. The day after this statement, Foreign Minister Silvan Shalom called for an emergency meeting of the Security Council. In that meeting, all 15 States have condemned Ahmadinejad's statements, while Kofi Annan said he was dismayed at the comments and reiterated the obligations of Iran and Israel's right to exist. Nevertheless, Ahmadinejad reaffirmed his position Oct. 28, 2005, wishing "death to Israel and America." This attitude, combined with the intentions nuclear weapons, poses a serious challenge for the United Nations, which we all hope will be resolved through diplomatic channels.
The UN was born in a moment of extraordinary moral clarity, in which the founders were able to distinguish "no ifs, ands or buts" between the aggression of the fascists and their role as liberators. The objective now must be to rediscover the moral clarity and avoid incurring dangerous as anti-historical denialism. Europe has a big task in this regard and should be able to speak with one voice against the lies and terrorism, in defense of democracy. Israel has a right to exist, and Jews to receive an apology.
