Houseofmouse Rentals Reviews

Editorial Eleuthera

E 'gives me great pleasure to present the first issue of Eleuthera, the magazine of the Students for freedom. In these first months of fervent activity, our group had the opportunity to hear and be heard. It has been discussed, much of politics at the local level, as national and international culture, economy, sports such as get-together. And 'our intention to bring in print at least part of our discussions and our thought through articles, divided into eight categories (in addition to the editorial, the headings in the world universities, domestic policy, foreign policy, economics and finance, culture, sport, the controversial angle).

We call ourselves liberal and center-right, who love freedom in all its forms and always willing to dialogue, in a sign of reciprocity. We are proud of our Italian and we believe that liberal democracy is the best form of government. We look to Europe with confidence and realism, arguing that the West is only one and that the world might be better if everyone knew the true meaning of freedom and put it into practice. Our intentions, our ideas could be called "moderate", not in the sense of not being either one hand or the other, or not have their own ideas, but in the rejection of extremism and preconceived position.

Nevertheless, it is the time of Enrico Berlinguer, the guru of the Italian left (which since then has not had a leader of his stature) that does not mean being left to be different. In the famous interview with
Scalfari 81, Berlinguer spoke of the evils that afflicted the fact the Italian political system, except (in your opinion) the Italian Communist Party: "The parties of today are mainly machinery and power customers. [...] They manage interest, more diverse, the most contradictory, sometimes sinister, [...] without seeking the common good. Their organizational structure is now aligned on this model: [...] federations are quite current, cliques, each with a "boss" and "sub-boss." [...] The parties have occupied the state and all its institutions, from government. They occupied the local authorities, security agencies, banks, public enterprises, cultural institutions, hospitals, universities, Raitv, some major newspapers. All of the "operations" that the various institutions and their current leaders are called upon to perform are seen mainly in the interests of the party or the current or clan was responsible for the charge. A bank loan is granted if it is useful for this purpose if it confers benefits and customer relations, administrative authorization is given, a contract is judged, is assigned a chair, equipment is financed, whether the beneficiaries as they file fidelity the party that provides these benefits. "

Reread today the words of former Secretary of the PCI is a certain effect. They look like an indictment against the ruling party Fassino, the Left Democrats, who are the proud heirs of the PCI.
's so: For 50 years the left has infiltrated the culture in all ganglia and information, while the DC, forget the origins sturziane and De Gasperi, apart from a few examples of purity and morality (we refer in particular to President Emeritus Cossiga), fumbled in his ambiguous relationship between politics and crime. In fact, the left has not been outdone, and was able to escape the danger if the "Clean Hands (We guarantee us the trust-but-not-too-judgments of the courts), today, in light of yet another financial scandal, and suspicions of repeated of complicity with the crime of many local authorities are left, there seems to be less suitable for the political faction to talk about the moral question.

need only cite such that 90% of municipal councils of Naples (most of them in the hands of DS) are under investigation for collusion with the Mafia and similar amenities, and dozens of city councils were dissolved by the Interior Ministry in recent months. The patronage is a widespread evil in politics, and the facts show that this is particularly true for the left, which certainly has more than lecture hall, high school teachers, bank managers and administrators and local newspapers of those requiring its center. In short, this moral question seems a chimera that turns against its own supporters!

Yet, Achille Occhetto, not new to political resurrections, insisted in March 2004 by Ferrara, "You belong to a humanity morally inferior to the pacifists ", ergo, there are at least two humans: a" top "and a" lower ". This is the real clash of civilizations!

For Gino Strada, another champion of the Left, "who does not vote no to the extension of the Italian mission in Iraq is a political thug", needless to say, we are on the side of those who voted yes. Of course, we would have liked that President Bush had listened to the advice dell'alleato Italian to pursue diplomacy, but, once you choose to go to war (for reasons at least as ideal as interest), the only possible way for 'Italy was that of fidelity to the historic ally, perpetrated by sending peacekeeping forces (a war that ended) involved in reconstruction and security in the areas of competence. We recall that the D'Alema government (and rightly so, but illegally from the standpoint of international treaty law) in 1999 took part in the bombing of Kosovo without UN endorsement, today, participation in a post-war (in fact there has viewed upon request, UN) is instead portrayed as "the-war-who-did-Berlusconi-per-lick-the-ass-assassin-of-a-Bush."
Yes, these are the same people who vote for this left and yell unique vocals on the death of our policemen and martyrs of peace in Nasiriyah. The paradox is that for months those babbling "withdraw our troops from Iraq" and spoke of "occupation by insurgents opposed" has enjoyed great reputation in the Italian media.

Today, this attitude is made even more so by the violent protests across the Muslim world for the publication of some cartoons about Islam and Muhammad.

We regret to note (although many pretend not to know) as it is now possible only to insult Jesus and the Catholic religion: for example, check out the cartoons on Vauro Nazifesto, or those of Muslims that portray the pope as a pig, or delusional claims that Adel Smith, known for calling the Church a "criminal association" and the crucifix a "corpse in miniature." (!)

The double standards shown by the Italian left and the European Union in condemning the Danish newspaper cartoons dell'ininfluente and ignoring everything else is disarming. As incredible dismissal of the director of France Soir by the editor, and it is unacceptable to the timidity of the leaders in condemning the violence against Westerners their embassies and their symbols. Burning a flag is a common feature of Islamic and left (add "extremists" on both terms, please!)

All this seems an inevitable sign of the dangers of relativism, the doctrine that an idea, a culture, one religion is another. Of the mindset that it is a crime to speak of better and worse, the categories set out under the term "different," the mirror of political correctness. Well, we believe that in evaluating the world around us is not possible to derogate from the fundamental values of life, liberty, respect for the person. A civilization based on hatred against each other and especially on the denial of these values is certainly worse than that, even amid many contradictions, is based on these values.

course, cultures are not characterized as monolithic blocks. But the violence (apart from those terrorist) triggered by the application of more mundane rights and freedoms, those of thought and the press, perpetrated in many Muslim countries, certify that there is much to change the mentality of those people.
A better world is possible. But how? Most African children go to bed hungry every night in 2006, but the joint efforts of recent years to reduce the debt of poor countries and aid development bodes well. The technology, particularly the low cost designed to promote the well-being in poor countries, will begin to be more widely usable. An example: this year in developing countries will make their appearance the $ 100 laptop computer, cell phone and $ 20 from a range of treatments for diseases, accompanied by the promise of more funds for research and development . The
India reach China in the ranks of the new emerging economic powers, New Orleans will be rebuilt and Europe will show a new realism, as explained by Commission President Barroso (by the way, Italy has recently been praised by Brussels for its Conduct ...)

These interventions "to rain" does not solve some of humanity's problems. Following the vision of Italian foreign policy, a mixture of realism and idealism, and the theories of scholars such as Natan Sharansky, one can not look at a League of Democracies as a winning solution for solving problems of the international community, particularly countries the third and fourth world. Here more than elsewhere, the lack of democracy implies a lack of freedom and un'impossibiltà of spreading the wealth. The narrow elites of these countries possess all the political and economic resources, leaving the population in poverty. Foreign aid often do not lead to a general improvement of the situation because of the greed of dictators, who sometimes ask legitimacy through elections fictitious.

In the recent editorial entitled "The one thing Bush got right, the British weekly The Economist has pointed out just as the mission of spreading democracy is the right way for solving many problems of the world. Street that the United States and other Western countries have followed in recent years, with a commitment to continue working in this direction.

History shows that the main feature of democracy - the freedom to elect and send home their government - does not guarantee that countries that adopt it are good neighbors or always do the right choices. The Republican administration, however, had the undeniable merit: it has ousted two regimes, the Taliban and to Saddam Hussein, regarded as dangerous, and instead to impose strong personal friend, as we did during the Cold War, has left the Afghan Iraqi and decide freely for the first time his government.

Italy must absolutely put itself on this path, as done in the past five years, demonstrating that the West is only one and that freedom and democracy are goals to be pursued.

With personal freedom, will be for poor countries, the liberalization of markets and services. Even in Europe, as requested by the International Monetary Fund, this is the recipe to follow. Liberalization, bringing more competition, is a simple and effective answer to the utopianism of the statist left. Berlusconi has the merit, among other things, to weaken the logic of welfarism in Italy, heavy welfare state, opposing the culture of free enterprise, history shows that winning on the utopian community based and Keynesian.

Having before us the example of Margaret Thatcher, Ronald Reagan and more recently Tony Blair and Silvio Berlusconi, we do not want one was inspired by liberalism, and which are less and less space unnecessary bureaucracy.

We have a dream, achievable: that freedom in all its forms prevail over state taxation, Religion, Politics, Economics, Utopia, and that's why we push for the triumph of democracy, freedom and liberalism in all parts of the globe .
